Polymers have a wider application in almost every manufacturing process

Basically speaking,  a polymer is a chemical process which results in bonding of molecules. Polymers are classified into two; namely natural and synthetic polymers. The best examples of natural polymers are wool and natural rubber. Synthetic polymers are made of Nylon, Polystyrene and such other products. Now, these custom polymers are being extensively used by various industries like the automobile, electrical and even by packaging industries. Apart from these, polymers are now being used in medical science as well. In fact, in the 12th National Graduate Research Polymer Conference held during June 19-22 at Arkon, Ohio, several speakers highlighted how polymers are being used in tissue engineering, biomaterials, anesthesia and such other branches of medical science.

Uses of synthetic polymers:

Out of the two types of polymers, synthetic polymers are now being used in varieties of industrial applications. Synthetic polymers are made of varieties of compounds like the Polyvinyl Chloride (PVC), Thermoplastic Rubber (TPR), Thermoplastic Elastomers (TPE), Concentrates (CONC) and so on. Each of these custom polymers is industry specific. For example, Polyvinyl Chloride (PVC) is largely used in the automobile industry. Similarly, concentrates are exclusively used in the manufacture of wires and cables.

Polymers for making wires and cables:

For example, the industries engaged in the manufacture of wires and cables use expandable polymer concentrates, which are popularly called as Concentrates (CONC).  The manufacturer uses this polymer to make wires and cables of different thickness and colors. These expandable polymers are made of expandable polymer beads. Such polymers are known to withstand harsh weather conditions and would last over several years.

Exclusive polymers for food packaging industries:

As you know, beverage, cosmetics and food packaging industries require polystyrene boxes that are capable of withstanding UV rays from the sun and harsh weather conditions. Such industries should use boxes or packing materials made of ultraviolet polymer concentrates. This type of boxes will not break or fade in color even under severe harsh weather conditions.

Odor retardants:

While processing plastic, the manufacturers normally use flame retardants and varieties of plasticizers as additives which in turn may cause odor. Naturally, any product made of such plastic also emanates the odor.  The odor can be neutralized by using appropriate polymer concentrates for odor masking. As a matter of fact, these concentrates are nothing but odor neutralizing products. Such neutralizing agents are found to be safe on both humans and animals. These agents are effectively used to neutralize both organic and inorganic odors. Further, the neutralizing agents are also found to be non toxic and will not cause any side effects.custom polymers

Involve less industrial processing:

The custom polymers have a wide range of industrial applications. As the very name suggests, the manufacturers customize the polymer in the manufacture of product required by the client.  Also, products made of plastic have become a part of daily life. The popularity of plastic also lies in the fact that it can be recycled. Therefore, it will not cause any harm on the ecology. As compared with other materials like the steel, it is comparatively easier to manufacture products made of plastic. In fact, this is one of the contributing factors that make plastic an affordable product.
